If a student rider decides to show or move up a level, the student will start out competing in what is called “Academy”, The purpose of Academy competition is to expose riders to the joys of showing at an affordable cost, to increase new interest in the show horse industry, and to encourage the student to improve his or her riding ability. Horses in Academy classes must be lesson horses used regularly in a professionally operated lesson program so owning your own horse is not required. All Academy classes are to be judged on the ability of the rider to control their horse to the best of their abilities.
Academy show season runs from March to November and Academy Riders across Indiana and the surrounding states get a chance to shine. With most of the shows taking place in Indiana, Academy Riders can fine-tune their skills with every new show. There is no minimum number of shows required so Academy Riders have plenty of opportunities to compete at their own pace. They have the chance to compete in two or three classes per show, all chosen by their instructor. These Academy Shows are an amazing way to cheer on our riders as they practice their riding skills, so don’t miss out!
Experience the thrill of accelerated progress by joining our Academy Show riders who benefit from twice-a-week lessons, advancing three times faster than their once-a-week counterparts.
